Stage 13 was another unlucky day for the Australian when he came down in a crash just 3.2 kilometres from the finish. He had to finish the stage on Kiryienka’s bike and lost a further two minu🍌tes in the overall classification.

Following the time trial, König is now Team Sky’s best pla𓆉ced rider in the general classification at 5:35 behind but it’s unclear whether the team will now back him or start searching for more stage victories instead.
