"It wasn’t at all [premeditated]," Porte said. "The guys put me in a fantastic position, a🔴nd I felt good. But then wit൲h 500 metres to go, it was a little far out. It was probably out of the question for me once Sagan came up."

Sagan surged to close in and then pass🅘 ꦜthe Australian. Van Avermaet gave chase, along with Martin. Sagan had a moment of panic as his foot slipped from the pedal, but kept his composure and re-accelerated, fending off the late acceleration of Matthews.
